My #1 Tip for Selling Authentically: Master your Mindset Around Sales

Does the thought of jumping on a sales call make you break into a cold sweat?

Do you feel icky or uncomfortable with selling or promoting yourself?

Let me let you in on a lesson I woke up to a few years ago… it’s not selling that’s the problem.

It’s the fear of rejection.
The fear of not being good enough.
The fear of being seen for who you really are. 
And surprisingly enough - the fear of not selling “the right way.”

I’ve been there too, and it took plenty of time to shake myself free. Even as a fear coach, I realized I was approaching potential clients from a place of fear. Ultimately, re-creating what I was committed to freeing people from.

I was following sales scripts that didn’t feel aligned and I kept hearing from other coaches that you can’t take no for an answer. That is some old school B.S. - let me tell you ;)

Now…I don’t shame or blame myself for going through those phases in the early stages of my business because I needed to go through those experiences to expand into a better version of myself. I was still helping people along the way, but I learned that my business could actually be rooted in abundance instead of fear.

So how do we overcome those fears and sell like a six (or seven!) figure badass?

The best way to sell is NOT by selling.
I know this sounds backwards, but stick with me.

#1 Tip: Focus on what EXCITES you!
One thing I’ve learned as a coach is to put my focus on what excites me and feels fun and freeing - not focusing on what I think will sell. Because ultimately, THAT is what will sell!

The people who are making six and seven figures doing what they love are successful because they are following their own unique strategy and embodying their brand fully. When you are excited about your offers, it’s magnetic. People sense your energy and want to be a part of your movement.

#2: STOP consuming other people’s content.
I’m not saying you have to do this forever, but taking a break from constantly scrolling through other people’s content has been a game changer for my business. When you’re watching what other people are doing, you start to copy their strategies and alter who you are to align with someone else - often subconsciously!

This starts a vicious cycle of selling a false version of yourself, so even if you do make the sale, it feels inauthentic. You have to trust that being yourself is the best strategy, and that what you can offer is exactly enough for the right people.

#3: Sell from a place of peace & confidence
So many of us approach sales and marketing from a place of fear. What if they say no? What if I lose money? What if this is all a waste of time?

Rather than viewing sales and marketing as a way to CONVINCE people of who you are or why they need to buy, use it as a vessel to amplify who you are and share your message with clarity… because no one likes to be sold anyways.

The old trend of pushing for credit card info or offering a discount that’s only good for the call time is no longer the vibe. It leaves your ideal client with a bad taste in their mouth and they won’t trust you anymore.

We can’t be afraid of a no… because that’s exactly when we will be open and available for the aligned yes.
